Melbourne Stars beat Melbourne Renegades by 23 runs

MOM: Kevin Pietersen

  • Kevin Pietersen has been named the Man Of The Match. That is all we have for you from this game. Do join us for the double header on Saturday. Adios! Take Care!
  • At one stage, the Stars were looking good for perhaps 180, even 190, but Pietersen's wicket changed the tide and the visitors were restricted to 167. Mohammad Nabi was the pick of the bowlers with 2/15. In reply though, the home side barely got itself into the chase. They were three down even before the Powerplay ended and there was hardly any fight shown. Coleman picked up 3 wickets while Worrall took 2 along with Hastings who helped himself with 2 as well.
  • On a pitch which was supposed to be the same throughout the game, the Renegades opted to bowl but were not at their best. Nabi got Ben Dunk early but then Handscomb and Pietersen got together and stitched a 110-run stand for the second wicket. There were plenty of dropped catches which did not aid the home side either.
  • Finally a win for the Stars. They have been winless for 5 matches on the trot and eventually find a way to cross the line. The win was set up by Kevin Pietersen's blistering 46-ball 74 with the bat and then some decent bowling by Daniel Worrall and Jackson Coleman with the new ball sealed it.
